Photo: Piestany in golden light
I can't help myself. I keep staring at this photo taken by my dad on the river shore in Piestany (Slovakia) on 1st March 2017. The setting sun made the hills look golden and the dark clouds and its reflection in the river give the picture a magical feeling.

This magnificient chandelier, decorated with Swarowski cristals, gold and other precious stones, hangs in the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi. It is one of the four identical chandeliers, each weighing 2 tonnes. There are still three more chandeliers, two larger (8 tons) and one even larger (12 tons). Sri Lankan Eagle
During a safari trip on Sri Lanka, I saw this eagle sitting atop a dry tree just casually looking around. I could not resist and took several photos.
Dubai Dancing Fountain
One of my favourite spots in Dubai is the Dancing fountain on a lake surrounded by the Dubai Mall, the Address hotel, the Souk and the Burj Khalifa. Every 30 minutes or so, a beautiful spectacle dazes a lot of tourists and locals alike.

Remembering Abu Dhabi Corniche Walks
Corniche is a long sea promenade in Abu Dhabi and frequent place for afternoon or evening walk, cycling, running or just meeting friends. Corniche is also a center of many sporting or entertainment events. It stretches more than 7km from the port on the east to Breakwater on the west, near Emirates Palace, Etihad Towers and Marina Mall. This interesting statue is at the end of the promenade at Breakwater, between Marina Mall and Etihad Towers.
London: The Gherkin and The Shard
An observation from London: The Gherkin looks like The Gherkin from anywhere, but The Shard is difficult to recognize from the London Bridge train station.

View of Lac Leman in Geneva
Geneva is a small city in Switzerland. It lies at the western edge of Lac Leman, surrounded by mountains. The city centre is relatively small, you can get anywhere on foot. There are a few museums, but the real eye candy is the lake and its proximity to the border with France makes the well-known Alpine ski resorts only a short drive away. Place: Lac Leman, Geneva, Switzerland Date: 6. April 2016

Photo: River in Himalayas, Nepal
Pokhara, a city in the eastern Nepal, is a starting point for trips and expeditions to eastern Himalayas. The well known Annapurna trek circuit could take around 16 days, but there are plenty of options for shorter treks, like a 3-4 day trek to Poon Hill. You will report your trek plan and pay a fee to enter the Himalaya trekking zone. Your guides usually arrange these formalities. The accommodation is in small mountain villages. The scenery is stunning and you will pass also the river below.
Photo: Beckov castle ruins
Beckov is a small village between Trenčín and Piešťany. A ruin of a medieval castle on a high rock is visible from far away. The castle has been integral part of Slovak history and a lot of tales about knights and kings are associated with it. The location is ideal for a short trip into the countryside and in the summer, the castle grounds host an exhibition of medieval arts and skills.
