Czech Republic: Luhacovice and the spa

Luhacovice is a small, lovely spa town in the south-eastern part of Czech Republic, in the Morava region. It is a twin city to my hometown – spatown Piestany and only a mere one hour driving distance from Piestany or from Brno. It is located in a valley surrounded by hills. The city is separated into the city itself and spa areas.

The spa is famous for the treatment of respiratory and other diseases. The center of the spa area is a long promenade lined with century old spa houses, sanatoriums, cafes, fountains and a theater. It is a nice place for a relaxing walk. I always combine with tasting of the healing mineral water from the most famous natural springs – Vincentka, Aloiska, Ottovka, the springs of Dr. Šťastný and St. Joseph. They are said to treat the diseases of the respiratory and digestive tract, diabetes mellitus and musculoskeletal disorders. Below are some photos the city and spa.

Luhačovice sú krásne malé kúpeľné mestečko na Morave len necelú hodinku šoférovania vzdialené od Piešťan alebo z Brna. Je to tiež sesterské mestečko môjho rodného kúpeľného mesta Piešťan.  Je obkolesené kopcami, ale kúsok za mestom sa nachádza aj vodná nádrž a rekreačná oblasť. Samotná kúpeľná oblasť s promenádou, poliklinikou, fontánou, sochami, sanatóriami, divadlom a najmä voľne prístupnými liečivými prameňmi  ako sú Vincentka, Aloiska, Ottovka, prameň Dr. Šťastného – je vlastne okrajová časť mestečka.  Liečia sa tu  najmä choroby dýchacieho a tráviaceho ústrojenstva.  Tu je pár foto, aby vás inširovali k návšteve. 🙂
