African cuisine – Ethiopian food
My first experience with African food came surprisingly during a food party in Abu Dhabi. Colleagues from Zimbabwe and Mali invited me to try their home made dishes. It was very exciting experience and a few similar followed in almost no time: Ethiopian and Sudanese cuisine.
Ethiopian cuisine is very interesting. If you are visiting Abu Dhabi, I would recommend you to venture into the Ethiopian restaurant Bonna Annee. You can choose meals made of many staples – meat (lamb, beef, chicken) or vegetarian. The order is served on a big plate for the whole table. On top of the plate is injera – a pancake style bread. And on top of it you will find a lot of small extras like cabbage, vegetable salad, lentil sauces, potatoes and the main dish – on the picture it is beef. You can eat the meal by taking/tearing a piece of injera in your hands and picking into some of the sauces. Alternatively, a classic fork and knife is always an option.
