Czech Rep: Castle, Gardens and Minaret in Lednice

Lednice is a small town in south Moravia famous for its beautiful castle surrounded by a large picturesque park with a lake and a minaret. The area is part of the Lednice-Valtice UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The castle stands on the ground of a former gothic fort from 1222 and the last reconstruction in the 19th century gave it a a neo-gothic style. Since then it is surrounded by one of Europe’s largest parks (almost 200 ha). In the park there is also a Palm House, a Venetian fountain, Roman aqueduct and a minaret. The minaret is open to public and climbing up the narrow staircase with 300 stairs brings you to a small platform with the views on the surrounding countryside.

Lednický zámek — Lednice, Czech Republic

Lednice sú malé mestečko na južnej Morave, kde sa nachádza obrovský areál neogotického zámku s jedným z najväčších parkov v Európe. Park má rozlohu asi 200 hektárov, tiahne sa cezeň jazero a vodné cesty, po ktorých premáva lodička pre turistov. Na druhom konci parku a jazera stojí asi 50 metrov vysoký minaret. Po 300 schodoch sa dá vystúpať až na vrch a ten 360° výhľad na celé okolie stojí za to. Samotný zámok stojí na mieste starej gotickej pevnosti z roku 1222. Niekoľkokrát bol prestavaný a rekonštruovaný, ale od 19-teho storočia si udržiava neogotický vzhľad.
